Theseus is a 150-bed housing project adjacent to the Port of Chelsea, MA, that repurposes the cargo holds from decommissioned bulk-carrier ships, which are typically retired after a mere 25 years. The project transforms maritime steel infrastructure into resilient, occupiable superstructures.

This project responds to the UK’s increasingly severe housing crisis by proposing a housing and community scheme as a precedent for socially and ecologically sustainable future developments within the Metropolitan Green Belt (MGB).
